Pure Cruise - Rotorua New Zealand - January 2010 Update

Dear John,

Summer sailing with Pure Cruise

With summer in full swing and school holidays drawing to an end soon, this has been an exciting season for Pure Cruise.  We had 12 private international family charters and numerous  daily sailing bookings in December alone.

Guests are able to choose from three daily sailing packages which include our morning  Soak and Sail, afternoon Daily Sail  and the evening Sunset Sail.

Families and independent travellers enjoy an array of group activities including trout fishing, learning to sail Tiua, bush walks, swimming, cliff diving and soaking in Lake Rotoiti’s mineral rich thermal hot pools.

Pure Cruise understands how important it is to choose holiday activities for the whole family while keeping costs down this summer. That is why we are offering special family rates on all three of our daily cruising packages. Families of two adults and two children (15 years and under) can enjoy our morning Soak and Sail and evening Sunset Sail charters for only $245 or our Daily Sail for only $300.  So why not enjoy the last few weeks of the school holidays cruising on board Tiua with the family!

What's Next for Pure Cruise?

This February, Pure Cruise are excited to be hosting a selection of private wedding and birthday charters. Friends and family will enjoy Lake Rotoiti's magnificent secluded coves and private beaches, the perfect backdop for capturing lasting memories, while enjoying cuisine by top chef Jonathon Beattie from the Duxton Hotel.  With i-pod hook up facilities on-board, guests can play their own favourite music to suit their event.

Also proving popular for bookings this February is Pure Cruise's combo packages with Kawarau Jet and Volcanic Air tours.  Guests will experience the thrill of a 360 degree jet boat spin with Kawarau Jet before boarding Tiua for a relaxing sail and high tea or an exclusive helicopter flight with Volcanic Air to private locations on Lake Rotoiti where they will board Tiua for a great afternoon sailing with gourmet lunch and a chilled drink from our fully stock bar.

Lake Rotoiti

The name “Rotoiti”  in Maori means "The little lake". The name is credited to Maori explorer Ihenga, who is also said to have discovered Lake Rotorua. Legend states the lake was named as such because when Ihenga first saw it, he was only able to see a small part of it and so thought the lake was a lot smaller.

Formed over 8500 years ago, Lake Rotoiti is really two lakes in one. The eastern half sits in a volcanic depression known as the Okataina Caldera and has many hot springs. The western half sits in a drowned valley, the Te Awa-i-Takapuwhaia and was formerly an outlet for Lake Rotorua. The two lakes today share an outlet at Rotoiti’s western end.
